Rudy's Day Out

"O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. "
Nehemiah 1:11
So yesterday we were suppose to have an open table meeting but some people were out of town, and apparently Joanne had a bad day, so instead we decided we would go out to eat. At first Manny suggested we go to Papa's BBQ, and I was like alright, if were going to eat BBQ we might as well go to Rudy's because I'm pretty sure it will be better, and I get a discount.

A long time ago, well actually my birthday last year, I bought myself a new bible. I wanted a 'big girl' bible. I still had a preteen bible that my mom bought be Christmas '04. It was a nice bible don't get me wrong, but I was over taking surveys on 'what kind of friend are you' and 'who is the perfect boy for you' in between scriptures. I know what some of you are thinking, 'I'd kill for a bible like that." Which is precisely why I held onto it. I wanted to give it to someone, but I didn't know who.

On my way to Rudy's it hit me. I COULD GIVE IT TO NEPHRA! Unfortunately by the time I had this colossal idea I was already at Rudy's. "whatever I can give it to her a different time". I reach in my glove compartment to grab out my wallet...and it's not there. "UGH I LEFT IT IN MY BACKPACK". It was really annoying because after school I asked myself "should I take my backpack inside, or just leave it in here? I might as well take it inside." I knew Manny, Joanne, and Nephra were waiting inside and I hated to make people wait on me but it worked out because guess who got to drive home get her wallet and her BIBLE :) that's right. THIS GIRL! and if you look in the picture above, she's holding it in her arms.

I gave her the bible, and she loved it. I took them to get their food, and THEY LOVED IT. Seeing their reactions was pretty funny for me. I guess it's because I'm so use to eating Rudy's I don't think of it as this super delicious restaurant. We all sat down and ate. I spent most of the time talking to Nephra. You'd be surprised how funny she is. When you talk to her and Joanne you forget they live in a homeless shelter. It wasn't until Nephra mentioned wanting to go live with her dad I remembered.

Me: Why do you want to go live with him?
Nephra: Well he's a veteran and they're giving him a house. It would just be nice to live in an actual house.

I don't really know the situation between Joanne and Nephra's father, except that Joanne is trying to get a divorce. Thinking of Nephra living in a homeless shelter broke my heart. Picture Joanne living all alone was even worse. Even if Joanne keeps, or gets the job they were talking about last Thursday, $7.25 is not enough to live off of, in a shelter, or even in a small apartment. It would mean a lot to me if anyone reading this would pray about it. I fully believe in the power of prayer.

Heres another funny slash awkward moment:
Me: (In the middle of a conversation I look up at Manny because he said my name)
Manny: Were just talking about your prom.
Nephra: Are you going to Prom?
Me: Uh..nooo
Nephra: Why wouldn't you want to go!
Me: I'd rather hang out with ya'll instead!
Nephra: I've always dreamed about prom. It's a night to get dressed up, look beautiful, and dance the night away.

Still trying to figure out what we (Nephra, Joanne, and I) should do the night of Prom. :/ I want to do something meaningful for them, but I want them to have fun too. If you have any suggestions or ideas let me know :)
